Europa Poets' Gazette No. 77. September 2010

Squash
If I was born in Hong Kong
It would be dreadfully unlucky
For I was born on the 4th;
Such an unfortunate number
For the Chinese
For four means death.
I always thought four was a lucky number.
Squash superstition, I say:
Walk under those ladders;
Embrace the number 13;
My mother was born on the 13th;
Throw the subconscious fears away
Once and for all - be liberated.
Hallelujah!
